The Secret to Emma Stone's Oscars Glow? A New Kiehl's Product!

Image Source: Getty / Steve Granitz

OK, Emma Stone , we see you at the Oscars looking fierce as ever in your satin Louis Vuitton pantsuit ! Last year’s best actress winner totally dominated the red carpet, oozing confidence and an overall badass vibe (which no doubt peaked during the brilliant shade she threw while presenting the award for best director ). But here’s one thing that you may have missed, no matter how long you stared at Emma’s all-over winning look: the fact that she debuted a new Kiehl’s product!

According to a rep for the brand, Emma’s makeup artist, Rachel Goodwin, used this totally casual, normal night to showcase Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator, a moisturizer that promises to visibly improve your “natural glow” over time. It’s made with illuminating materials and antioxidant protection such as pomegranate extract, which provides hydration for 24 hours. That’s a whole dang day of great skin, y’all.

You could smear this all over your face as you would with any moisturizer, but Rachel chose to mix it in with Emma’s base, which happened to be Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Gobi ($49). This made her foundation easier to blend while leaving behind a soft, dreamy dewiness.

The one catch? Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator ($38) won’t be available until May, but you can preorder it on the brand’s website and have it sent just in time for a vanity made clear by Spring cleaning.

12 Stunning Makeup Looks Inspired by All of the Zodiac Signs

We bet Mercury wasn’t in retrograde when makeup artist Kimberly Money transformed herself into 12 characters inspired by zodiac signs. To live out horoscopes IRL, she rocks multiple hair colors, from fiery red to icy periwinkle, and makes over her eyes in mesmerizing ways (seriously, just check out Aquarius’s glitter tears).

“I grew up in Vietnam where the zodiac signs are very popular, so I always wanted to make a series out of it since I love doing makeup and photography,” Kimberly told POPSUGAR via email on what inspired this stunning project.

Though she is not an astrologer, a lot of thought went into crafting each look. “I choose the looks based on my experience with people around me with the signs,” she said. “I also do some research online on which colors fit with the looks most. This series represents how I see these signs in my imagination and bring it to reality.”

She looks gorgeous in all of the horoscope looks, but we still had to know which one was hers. “I’m a Libra,” she admitted. “I feel like it represents me very well. I always looking for balance in life and love spending time alone working on things that I love, such as makeup. Also, this look I chose especially for this sign is my favorite combo, and smoky eyes are my go-to!”

Gina Rodriguez's Red Carpet Hair Looks Basic – Until She Turns Around

Gina Rodriguez always looks fantastic – but she took our collective breath away on the Oscars red carpet. The Jane the Virgin actress walked the red carpet looking like a princess with pastel-hued makeup and a sleek ponytail.

Gina’s eye makeup featured lavender eye shadow paired with a pale pink lip and flawless skin. Her makeup was done by makeup artist Carissa Ferreri using Burt’s Bees makeup.

The most intriguing part of Gina’s look, however, was revealed when she turned around to smooch her boyfriend, Joe LoCicero. Gina’s sleek, low ponytail was wrapped with hair at the base and wrapped with more hair a few inches down. The result was a gorgeous and interesting take on an otherwise simple red carpet look.

Step Right This Way, Ladies: MAC's Newest Palette Is Inspired by Girl Power

In 2017, MAC released its hilariously but trivially named Basic B*tch Palette , but this year the brand will celebrate a very different type of woman. That’s because MAC dropped a MAC Girls Risk Taker Palette ($40), which celebrates badass beauty babes and on-point shadow looks all at once.

This bundle contains eight berry- and shimmer-tinted eye hues, along with one bronze-pink highlighter. We’re obsessed with Risky Business, an ultraviolet-gray mix; Fashion Fanatic, an attention-grabbing fuchsia; and Free Ride, a ’90s-esque muted mauve.

We’re also cheering for the palette’s packaging, which is decorated with bold florals and thin, orange-toned stripes. If you’ve tried any MAC Girls Personality products , you know that the charming palettes contain satiny, pearl-infused powders that glide over your skin like a goshdarn dream. This puppy is sure to be the talk of your vanity, so don’t take the risk of waiting to purchase this one.

Nicole Kidman's Oscars Hair Came Courtesy of This New H&M-Owned Beauty Line

If you haven’t shopped at & Other Stories , click on the link to the site, call in sick today, and cozy on up to a bona-fide fashion girl’s fantasy . The affordable brand, which is owned by H&M, offers trendy pieces that retail for under $200. Every item comes from three different ateliers based in Paris, Stockholm, and Los Angeles and features striking silhouettes that are both chic and cutting edge.

Until now, the brand has stuck with making clothes, but Nicole Kidman debuted its hair products at the 2018 Oscars. We feel confident enough to call it now: by the way Nicole looks, the line is going to become a beauty mainstay.

While looking like a literal present in her sealed-with-a-bow Armani gown , Nicole kept her hair sleek and sexy. Her uberstraight strands were a delightful contrast to the sweet dress, and the style came courtesy of four new items from & Other Stories.

Hairstylist Kylee Heath codeveloped the new line (which launches this Summer) and worked her magic on Nicole. She began by applying her Universal Blowout Lotion and Fullness Thickening Cream to Nicole’s damp strands. Then she combed through everything and used a Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer ($399) on its highest heat and speed settings. After that, Kylee added & Other Stories Fullness Volume Powder, which gave just a touch of volume around her client’s roots. Then, she straightened Nicole’s hair and topped off everything with & Other Stories Universal Hairspray.

So yeah, safe to say we’ll be heading straight for an & Other Stories store come Summer, so we can find our inner Nicole Kidman.

13 Celebrities Who Graced the Red Carpet Wearing Glossier

Glossier: you either love it or hate it. Just kidding, everyone loves it . And turns out, even celebrities can’t get enough of the beautiful millennial brand, so much so that they’ve graced the red carpet wearing it. From Glossier’s Cloud Paint debut at the 2017 Oscars to the Lidstar launch at this year’s Oscars and all the red carpet appearances in between, these are the products celebrities just can’t get enough of.

Ahead, see all the celebrities who have worn Glossier on the red carpet so far. And if they can’t convince you to try it (if you haven’t already), we don’t know what will.

Elizabeth Arden's Badass New Lipstick Will Help Women in Need Around the World

A red lipstick that celebrates and supports all women? We’re in! Elizabeth Arden has just released a limited-edition lipstick as part of a campaign called March On ($26). In partnership with the brand’s Storyteller-in-Chief, Reese Witherspoon , March On aims to “help women unite and reach their best potential.” The campaign aligns with the 100th anniversary of the women’s right to vote in the UK and International Women’s Day . One hundred percent of the proceeds from sales of the limited-edition lipstick ($26) will be donated to UN Women in support of its work to advance women’s issues worldwide.

Elizabeth Arden chose to release this limited-edition red lipstick with Reese as it’s a “powerful symbol of unity and advocacy.” Elizabeth Arden’s bright red lipstick was a symbol of liberty during the suffragettes’ march on New York in 1912, when it was given out to women who were taking part in the protest. Red lipstick has been used as a symbol of women’s unification, strength, and defiance ever since. The women’s vote was very important to Elizabeth Arden, and the brand is still as dedicated today to its philanthropic efforts and women’s rights around the world.

The limited edition lipstick is in the staple shade Red Door Red, inspired by the iconic red doors of Elizabeth Arden salons. The tube (which is usually gold) has been reimagined in crimson, with Reese Witherspoon’s signature inside. The lipstick allows women to feel like the most badass version of themselves (because who doesn’t feel better after applying a bold lip color?) while helping an incredible cause. Red Door Red is available now ($26).

Soap & Glory Sells Lipstick, but Its New Ad Shows Women Are More Than Their Mouths

How does a beauty brand contribute to the #MeToo discussion? Soap & Glory just schooled us all. The drugstore favorite offers a full line of makeup, but it’s perhaps best known for its cheekily named lip-plumping product , Sexy Mother Pucker. To some, that might seem a little objectifying. After all, a woman’s pout isn’t just a vessel for lipstick. It’s also, you know, the thing she talks out of, and those words are powerful.

That’s why Soap & Glory’s latest campaign wants us to look past the aesthetics of a woman’s lips – and more into what she has to say. In an emotional ad shot during the LA Women’s March on Jan. 20, the brand set up a live stream spotlighting close-ups of women’s lips. All wore various shades of lipstick as they spoke about their hopes, dreams, struggles, and experiences ranging from growing up transgender to surviving an abusive relationship. The ad encourages women to raise their voices “whatever their shade of gloss” may be.

The #MoreThanLips campaign sheds a spotlight on Soap & Glory’s efforts to support She Should Run, a national organization that works to support women in politics. One specific goal of She Should Run is increasing the number of women running for office to 250,000 by 2030. Soap & Glory has said that it will donate $5 for any post tagged #MoreThanLips – so get hashtagging.

Highlighter Addicts! Too Faced Released the Magic Rainbow Brush of Your Unicorn Dreams

If you love rainbows, highlighter, and all things magical, you’re going to need to sit down for this one. Too Faced just released its new Life’s a Festival line filled with lots of vibrant, colorful makeup. But that’s not the best part – they also created a Magic Rainbow Strobing Brush ($34) for applying your highlighter like the mythical creature that you are.

The brush features an iridescent lilac handle and densely packed bristles intended to pick up lots of product. It’s the perfect choice for giving your face the luminous glow it clearly deserves. If you’re as in love with this brush as we are, we recommend buying it ASAP. Special items like this tend to sell out lightning fast. We love this design so much, we might need to get two!

Nail Brows Are the Sharpest Beauty Look We've Seen in a While

We just found the new, edgy beauty trend – literally. Nail brows are here, and the pointy punk style is impossible to look away from – even if it does give us the heebie-jeebies.

Gone are the days of soft squiggle brows and wavy lips ; we have entered an era of sharper, more defined beauty trends. Serbian architecture student and makeup artist Milan Bauranov plays around with incorporating the home improvement tool into his brows, and damn if he isn’t totally nailing it. (See what we did there?)

It appears that Bauranov is a fan of Kat Von D products , as he used the brand’s Lock It Concealer Crème ($26), Setting Powder ($30), and Setting Mist ($26) to prep his skin. He has also done similar needle styles before, so check them out below – if you dare.

Why Am I So Obsessed With Halo Brows, This New Reverse Unibrow Trend?

I know what you’re going to say: “Those dang kids with their squiggle brows and nostril hair extensions . What is happening to the world? Every day we stray from God’s light. Do we really need another Instagram beauty trend?”

The answer, you fun-hater, is yes. There’s a new brow kid on the block, and I don’t know why but it’s my favorite thing since sliced bread brows (those aren’t real, but should be). Ladies and gentlemen, halo brows, as the look’s creator has dubbed it, are here. To paraphrase Beyoncé, I can definitely see the halo (halo) effect of this look, but I prefer to think of it as a reverse unibrow. And it’s cool, damn it.

Hannah Lyne, a 16-year-old from Huddersfield, UK, coined the term. Hannah told POPSUGAR that halo brows can be traced back to fishtail brows , which were until now the last great “new Instagram trend.” (Those, in turn, take influence from ’90s hip-hop brow slits – it’s all connected, friends.)

“I was having a conversation with a friend trying to come up with a new idea for a look, and all of a sudden it came to me that I should connect my brow tails,” Hannah explained. “This look was influenced by fishtail brows; seeing the way my brow flicked upwards inspired the idea of just carrying the brow on until it met in the middle.”

All good brow trends need a catchy name, and Hannah actually took a commenter’s suggestion for halo brows. This bold, circular look is totally hypnotizing, and I am hereby dubbing it the greatest piece of art of our time. Seriously, don’t try to come at me if you’re trying to diss halo brows. Hey, they laughed at Picasso, too.

Yup, Someone Created Geode Hair, and It's Just as Pretty as You'd Imagine

Geodes in beauty are like most Instagram trends: somewhat impractical but entirely mesmerizing. We’ve seen geode nails , lip art , and more recently body designs .

As with all great beauty trends, talented hairstylists always find a way to get in on the act . Yup, someone has created amethyst geode hair, and it’s incredible. Sure, plenty of hairstylists have been inspired by the colors of geodes, but none has actually tried to incorporate the sparkle and texture of the crystals in hair . . . until now!

Color specialist Caitlin Ford is the woman behind the crystallized masterpiece. She posted her creation on Instagram, sharing that she used Socolor by Matrix and the Rebond System to keep the hair safe from damage during dyeing. She used “big, chunky, iridescent glitter in the purple to mimic the amethyst points and used a clear glitter mixed with fine silver glitter to mimic the quartz edges.”

If you aren’t quite ready for a literal crystal on your head, check out Caitlin’s page for all kinds of other hair color inspiration .

Emma Watson's Baby Bangs and Shaggy Lob Are Polarizing the Internet

What an Oscars night Emma Watson had! First, the star rolled up to the Vanity Fair afterparty with an unfortunately grammatically incorrect, but still extremely relevant tattoo that celebrated the Time’s Up Movement . But it wasn’t just the missing apostrophe that got the internet buzzing. Emma also rocked one of this season’s most polarizing haircuts: a modern shag with baby bangs.

Emma isn’t the first celebrity, or even the first celebrity Emma, to rock this controversial style. You may recall that Emma Roberts showed up to the SAG Awards wearing blunt fringe (though those were faux) and a lob.

We also spotted the look backstage at recent New York Fashion Week shows from the likes of Alexander Wang, Bottega Venetta, and Adam Selman.

Let’s just say people have a lot of feelings about this grunge style.

Huda Kattan, Beauty's Wealthiest Influencer, Spends 4 Hours a Day on Instagram

A post shared by Huda Kattan (@hudabeauty) on Feb 18, 2018 at 10:24am PST

Fishtail brows . Metallic lip strobes . The rose gold eye shadow palette that started ’em all (RIP, friend). It’s tough to name a beauty trend that’s come up in the past few years that hasn’t been shaped by Huda Kattan. Along with being the wealthiest influencer working the beauty game right now, Huda consistently drops both iridescent and utilitarian products that fly off shelves almost as quickly as she shot to the top of the industry.

Perhaps one of Huda’s most enduring qualities is that she totally smashes the “b*tchy businesswoman” stereotype. She’s a verified mogul, but she takes the time to support other women trying to do the same thing, whether they are superstars like Kim Kardashian and Jen Atkin or the women behind undiscovered makeup she promotes on her own feed.

“I always try to be as real as possible on social media and pride myself on only supporting people and brands I love and truly believe in,” Huda tells POPSUGAR. “It is super important to me that the videos we share are useful and offer something beneficial. I want people to learn something new.”

But finding those pre-viral trends before anyone else does takes a lot of tenacity. Huda cops to spending about four hours a day scrolling through Instagram’s Explore page. She admits that process can be a bit “overwhelming,” but there is a plus side: “It gives me the opportunity to connect with people from all over the globe. There’s never a time when we have nothing to share.”

“Whenever you are pushing boundaries, there will be push-back from people.”

And while Huda’s drawn attention to some wild makeup hacks in the past (hello, Vagisil primer ), her buck stops with reposting sheer clickbait. “We are very selective of what we share, especially when it comes to videos that have the potential to be harmful,” she says. Noting that many of her followers are on the young side, Huda feels she has a responsibility to be selective with her content.

For instance, when knife contouring (yup, that’s exactly what it sounds like) emerged a few years ago, Huda’s team made the decision not to call attention to such a dangerous trend. In Huda’s words, “We filter content and share only the beauty hacks and tutorials that will elevate a beauty routine.”

Routines aren’t the only thing Huda wants to elevate; she has also started the Huda Beauty Angels fund to assist budding female entrepreneurs. “We champion female empowerment and uniqueness, which doesn’t come without its challenges,” she admits. Her advice to anyone who wants to follow suit? “Whenever you are pushing boundaries, there will be push-back from people. Embrace what you stand for, and accept that there will be criticism.”

Oh, and one more thing: “The best advice came from my mom; she has always told me to be patient. It was really helpful to have her say that to me, because I am a really passionate person and can sometimes be very impulsive.” We guess the advice paid off – spending four hours a day digging through Instagram sounds like it requires quite a bit of persistence, indeed.
