The Secret to Emma Stone's Oscars Glow? A New Kiehl's Product!

Image Source: Getty / Steve Granitz

OK, Emma Stone , we see you at the Oscars looking fierce as ever in your satin Louis Vuitton pantsuit ! Last year’s best actress winner totally dominated the red carpet, oozing confidence and an overall badass vibe (which no doubt peaked during the brilliant shade she threw while presenting the award for best director ). But here’s one thing that you may have missed, no matter how long you stared at Emma’s all-over winning look: the fact that she debuted a new Kiehl’s product!

According to a rep for the brand, Emma’s makeup artist, Rachel Goodwin, used this totally casual, normal night to showcase Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator, a moisturizer that promises to visibly improve your “natural glow” over time. It’s made with illuminating materials and antioxidant protection such as pomegranate extract, which provides hydration for 24 hours. That’s a whole dang day of great skin, y’all.

You could smear this all over your face as you would with any moisturizer, but Rachel chose to mix it in with Emma’s base, which happened to be Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Gobi ($49). This made her foundation easier to blend while leaving behind a soft, dreamy dewiness.

The one catch? Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator ($38) won’t be available until May, but you can preorder it on the brand’s website and have it sent just in time for a vanity made clear by Spring cleaning.

Step Right This Way, Ladies: MAC's Newest Palette Is Inspired by Girl Power

In 2017, MAC released its hilariously but trivially named Basic B*tch Palette , but this year the brand will celebrate a very different type of woman. That’s because MAC dropped a MAC Girls Risk Taker Palette ($40), which celebrates badass beauty babes and on-point shadow looks all at once.

This bundle contains eight berry- and shimmer-tinted eye hues, along with one bronze-pink highlighter. We’re obsessed with Risky Business, an ultraviolet-gray mix; Fashion Fanatic, an attention-grabbing fuchsia; and Free Ride, a ’90s-esque muted mauve.

We’re also cheering for the palette’s packaging, which is decorated with bold florals and thin, orange-toned stripes. If you’ve tried any MAC Girls Personality products , you know that the charming palettes contain satiny, pearl-infused powders that glide over your skin like a goshdarn dream. This puppy is sure to be the talk of your vanity, so don’t take the risk of waiting to purchase this one.

Nicole Kidman's Oscars Hair Came Courtesy of This New H&M-Owned Beauty Line

If you haven’t shopped at & Other Stories , click on the link to the site, call in sick today, and cozy on up to a bona-fide fashion girl’s fantasy . The affordable brand, which is owned by H&M, offers trendy pieces that retail for under $200. Every item comes from three different ateliers based in Paris, Stockholm, and Los Angeles and features striking silhouettes that are both chic and cutting edge.

Until now, the brand has stuck with making clothes, but Nicole Kidman debuted its hair products at the 2018 Oscars. We feel confident enough to call it now: by the way Nicole looks, the line is going to become a beauty mainstay.

While looking like a literal present in her sealed-with-a-bow Armani gown , Nicole kept her hair sleek and sexy. Her uberstraight strands were a delightful contrast to the sweet dress, and the style came courtesy of four new items from & Other Stories.

Hairstylist Kylee Heath codeveloped the new line (which launches this Summer) and worked her magic on Nicole. She began by applying her Universal Blowout Lotion and Fullness Thickening Cream to Nicole’s damp strands. Then she combed through everything and used a Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer ($399) on its highest heat and speed settings. After that, Kylee added & Other Stories Fullness Volume Powder, which gave just a touch of volume around her client’s roots. Then, she straightened Nicole’s hair and topped off everything with & Other Stories Universal Hairspray.

So yeah, safe to say we’ll be heading straight for an & Other Stories store come Summer, so we can find our inner Nicole Kidman.

Soap & Glory Sells Lipstick, but Its New Ad Shows Women Are More Than Their Mouths

How does a beauty brand contribute to the #MeToo discussion? Soap & Glory just schooled us all. The drugstore favorite offers a full line of makeup, but it’s perhaps best known for its cheekily named lip-plumping product , Sexy Mother Pucker. To some, that might seem a little objectifying. After all, a woman’s pout isn’t just a vessel for lipstick. It’s also, you know, the thing she talks out of, and those words are powerful.

That’s why Soap & Glory’s latest campaign wants us to look past the aesthetics of a woman’s lips – and more into what she has to say. In an emotional ad shot during the LA Women’s March on Jan. 20, the brand set up a live stream spotlighting close-ups of women’s lips. All wore various shades of lipstick as they spoke about their hopes, dreams, struggles, and experiences ranging from growing up transgender to surviving an abusive relationship. The ad encourages women to raise their voices “whatever their shade of gloss” may be.

The #MoreThanLips campaign sheds a spotlight on Soap & Glory’s efforts to support She Should Run, a national organization that works to support women in politics. One specific goal of She Should Run is increasing the number of women running for office to 250,000 by 2030. Soap & Glory has said that it will donate $5 for any post tagged #MoreThanLips – so get hashtagging.

MAC Is Launching Throwback Lipsticks in '90s-Fabulous Colors, and We. Are So. Excited.

The dream of the ’90s is alive in MAC’s latest collection, which will have fans of the decade screaming in their hair claws . The brand has launched a Throwbacks collection that’s bringing sexy back – and by “sexy,” we mean all your old favorite lipstick and eye shadow shades like Marrakesh, Bronx, Uninterrupted, and Kid.

Even better? This line is part of the brand’s permanent collection, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on reuniting with all your OGs. On the lip front, Throwbacks includes matte, frost, and satin finishes, which are all in retro shades that belong in an episode of Friends. Sans one metallic – the duochrome bronze Spanish Fly – the lippies lie in the red or pink color family.

Natural is the name of the game for the eye shadows, which come in a range of tan, beige, and brown to channel that Alicia Silverstone no-makeup look. Read on to see everything you can shop online at MAC now or in stores on March 1 – which is aptly a Thursday, aka prime #TBT time.

Get Hyped, Y'All: Storybook Cosmetics Is Finally Coming to Ulta!

Storybook Cosmetics, aka the source of our favorite fandom-themed beauty products, is officially coming to Ulta.com, and we’re practically bursting at the seams with excitement. The indie brand, which was founded by three identical triplets, has been a direct-to-consumer label since its inception. That means this is a pretty big f*cking deal for the women-owned company (and it’s also a big f*cking deal for our paychecks, which will now be spent entirely on Ulta.com).

In case you’re not familiar with Storybook Cosmetics, it’s the source of those crazy-cool makeup products you’ve likely seen while scrolling away on Instagram, like the Harry Potter lipsticks that stole our hearts, that totally fetch Mean Girls palette , and the enchanted rose-inspired makeup brushes that practically broke the internet last year. Oh, and did we mention that all of its products are cruelty-free? Yep, Storybook Cosmetics is truly giving the people what they want.

Storybook Cosmetics hasn’t released any details about exactly when it will become available on Ulta.com, but we’ll update this post with more information as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, may we suggest cracking open your piggy bank?

MAC Will Launch an Iridescent Glitter Pigment That's Fit For a Unicorn

London Fashion Week is in full force, and it’s delivering some noteworthy beauty moments – not to mention the DL on about-to-launch products. Backstage at the London College of Fashion show, a new iridescent glitter pigment from MAC Cosmetics was spotted at makeup artist Claire Mulleady’s table, and its existence is sending us into a unicorn-induced frenzy.

For the look, makeup artists combined the pearlescent glitter with gloss and liberally painted it on top of models’ eyelids with an eye shadow brush. Let’s just say these are the kinds of moments KiraKira+ developers thought about when creating their app. So sparkly, so pretty.

Iridescent White will be added to the brand’s existing lineup of glitter pigments in the coming months, and we’re guessing it’ll be about $22 like the other sparkling options .

9 Genius Ways to Extend the Life of a Blowout – Without Dry Shampoo

It’s hard to imagine life before dry shampoo – a dark, ominous time when we were forced to choose the lesser of two evils: greasy roots or another tedious DIY blowout. These game-changing oil-soppers have been giving our blowouts new life for over a century, and we are forever grateful for every shampoo skip that we are granted. But while they definitely serve their very useful purpose, there’s no denying the coarse, chalky texture that results from even the best of the dry shampoo bunch.

So when a new breed of blowout-extending products surfaced offering yet another supersimple way to enjoy that bouncy shine even longer, we were the first to put them to the test. From special pillowcases to redesigned shower caps and a lineup of blotting papers, here are nine innovative new ways to extend the life of your blowout without using dry shampoo.

Recall Alert! This Popular Hair Dryer Could Be a Burn Hazard

If you prefer your bathroom fire-free and your hands unburned, then you might want to invest in a new hair dryer. That’s because the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has just recalled a popular heat tool sold at Target, Amazon, Groupon, and other retailers. If you own an ISO Beauty Ionic Pro 2000 dryer, it’s time to turn it in.

According to the recall notice , this news impacts owners of 73,000 dryers sold between March 2013 and January 2018. The brand has received 35 reports of “dryers sparking or smoking” and “two reports of flames coming from the dryers.” Three people reported burns to their hands or fingers as a result of using the Ionic Pro.

If you’re unsure if you have this specific model, here are some details on what it looks like. “ISO” or “Proliss” is printed on the bottom rear of the tools. The model number is HD-1820. The Ionic Pro was sold in black, white, white pearl, peacock, white zebra, pink leopard, blue, and giraffe prints.

Should you own one, you’re urged to stop using it and contact ISO Beauty . The brand will teach you how to remove the faulty cord and will send you a new, safe replacement.

This unsettling news comes just after Amazon pulled an OraCorp hair dryer from its virtual shelves after a customer shared a video of it shooting flames. If this makes you want to air-dry your hair tonight, here are some great styling products .

I Finally Found a Dry Shampoo That Won't Make My Brunette Hair Chalky – and It's Only $9

I am a devout user of dry shampoo , but many formulas leave my brunette hair looking like an 18th century powdered wig. The chalkiness makes my dark locks appear dull and faded. Luckily, I finally found a solution that doesn’t give me Marie Antoinette vibes. Batiste Dry Shampoo ($9) in Beautiful Brunette is one of the bestselling hair products on Amazon. It has almost 3,000 reviews and 67 percent of customers give it five stars.

The secret to the formula is that it’s made with a brown tint. The color works for any hue of brunette hair, cool or warm. On top of finally resolving the powdery problem I was facing, it also immediately banishes excess oil and gives my strands tons of volume. The clean, floral fragrance smells amazing; it’s the perfect pick-me-up in between washes.

All you have to do is hold the bottle about a foot away from your hair, spray it on your roots, and lightly massage it in. Once you’re finished, make sure to wash your hands so you don’t get any brown residue on your clothes. After that, you can style your locks however you please.

“I have tried other brands of dry shampoo and will never go back,” one customer said. “This is by far the best. It goes on so easily. I barely have to brush it out at all. The brown tint matches my hair color perfectly. It works like magic to eliminate oil in my super fine, thin hair and I do not have to wash everyday, which is my goal. Highly recommended.”

This stuff changed my life – I’m begging you to give it a shot. I suggest buying the three-pack because you’re going to be utterly addicted.

I Discovered This Life-Changing Makeup Brush Cleaner (on Amazon!), and It's So Addicting

I used to clean my brushes by hand and leave them out to dry overnight; the whole process from beginning to end was a tedious task I dreaded. I recently found this genius Wloomm Electric Makeup Brush Cleaner ($30) on Amazon, and now I can’t imagine living without it.

When I received it, I was shocked by how great the quality of the product was. It comes with a spinner, clear cup, eight different brush holders, a stand for everything, and even a velvet slip cover for the wand. The rubber holders vary in size and work on all my tools.

I couldn’t wait to use it – I quickly filled the glass bowl with an inch of water and started cleansing. You simply stick a brush in the water, press a button to make the brush spin, and watch all your makeup seep out as the water changes color. I can’t describe how weirdly satisfying this is. You’ll also be grossed out when you realize all the grime that can come out of your tools. After spinning, you lift your brush out of the water and let it dry. Within minutes, it will be cleaner than ever!

Not only is it fun to use, but it was by far the fastest and most efficient process I’ve ever experienced. I can’t imagine cleaning them the old-fashioned way ever again. Get this and it will change your beauty game forever!
